Abstract

Religious extracurricular activities are expected to improve the quality of Islamic Religious Education learning, especially in public schools which have limited Islamic Religious Education subject hours. The subjects of this research were 31 students in class VIII of Ubudiyah Pangkalan Brandan Private Middle School. This research was carried out in two cycles, where each cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. From the analysis of the data that the author obtained, it is known that the initial condition is that in class VIII of Ubudiyah Pangkalan Brandan Private Middle School, there is a problem, namely that the quality of students' Islamic Religious Education learning is still low and far from the Minimal Completion Criteria set by the Madrasah. In the pre-cycle implementation, the average student score was 65.48 with a total of 35.48% completeness. Then the first cycle of religious extracurricular activities was carried out. From the classroom action research data, there was an increase in the average score in the first cycle to 72.74 with a total of 64.525% completeness. Continuing to the second cycle of religious extracurricular activities, in this action there was another increase, namely the average student score was 83.06 with a total of 90.32% completeness. This shows that the implementation of religious extracurricular activities can develop the quality of learning in Islamic Religious Education because students who have completed it have exceeded 85%, namely 90.32% and the average student score of 83.06 exceeds the Minimum Completion Criteria score of 75.
