Penerapan Metode Modelling The Way untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Siswa pada Mata Pelajaran Fikih Materi Salat Jumat di MTs Yaspend Muslim Pematang Tengah
Abstract
This study was motivated by the low level of students’ understanding of the Friday Prayer material, which had an impact on learning outcomes that remained below the expected standard. This condition was reflected in the average score obtained by the students prior to the implementation of the Modelling the Way learning method, which was only 58 with a mastery level of 33.33%. This situation highlights the need for innovation in teaching methods that can motivate students, enhance their active participation in the learning process, and support a deeper comprehension of the material. The aim of this research was to examine the extent to which the application of the Modelling the Way method can improve students’ learning outcomes on the Friday Prayer material. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 36 students of class VII-3 at MTs Yaspend Muslim Pematang Tengah. Data were collected through learning achievement tests, classroom observations, and documentation, and were analyzed using both descriptive qualitative and quantitative approaches to provide a comprehensive picture of the improvement in learning outcomes. The findings showed a significant improvement following the application of the Modelling the Way method. In the first cycle, the students’ average score increased to 75 with a mastery level of 72.22%, or 26 students achieving completeness. Further improvement was seen in the second cycle, where the average score reached 84 with a mastery level of 88.89%, involving 32 students who achieved the target. Thus, there was an increase in learning mastery from cycle I to cycle II by 16.67%. These results confirm that the Modelling the Way method is effective in improving students’ understanding and learning outcomes on the Friday Prayer material and can serve as an alternative instructional strategy for Fiqh teachers.
