Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Ahlussunnah Wal Jamaah (Aswaja) values in the development of students’ character at La Tansa Islamic Boarding School, Tanjung Ibus Secanggang Village. The research is motivated by the growing moral crisis among students which requires systematic character education based on Islamic values. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the head of the school, Islamic education teachers, and several students. Data validity was ensured through technical and source triangulation, while data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the implementation of Aswaja values is carried out through three main methods: understanding, habituation, and role modeling. Teachers first explain the meaning and importance of Aswaja values such as tasamuh (tolerance), tawasuth (moderation), i’tidal (justice), tawazun (balance), amar ma’ruf nahi munkar, and ta’awun (mutual help). These values are then reinforced through daily habits and exemplary behavior demonstrated by teachers. Supporting factors include the school environment, teachers, and students who share the same religious understanding, while inhibiting factors include students’ social interactions outside school and the limited role of parents in supervision.
