Abstract

This study aims to determine the contribution of Madrasah Aliyah alumni, their effectiveness in improving educational quality, and the supporting and inhibiting factors in optimizing the role of alumni at the Babusalam Islamic Boarding School in Langkat. The background of this study is based on the suboptimal coordination and communication between the Islamic boarding school and alumni, the limited alumni database, and the absence of a systematic program involving alumni in Madrasah quality development. This study used a qualitative research method with a field research approach. The research subjects included alumni association administrators, boarding school leaders, care staff, administrative managers, active students, and the surrounding community. Data collection techniques included observation, open-ended interviews, and documentation. Data analysis included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the contribution of Madrasah Aliyah alumni to the development of Madrasah quality at the Babusalam Islamic Boarding School in Langkat encompasses four main aspects: personnel and expertise, financial contributions, institutional and network contributions, and public trust. These contributions have proven effective in improving learning quality, management stability, the institution's reputation, and the sustainability of the education system. Key supporting factors include emotional bonds, alumni commitment, the existence of the Babusalam Tanjungpura Langkat Alumni Association (IKASBATA), and a synergy of vision with the boarding school. Inhibiting factors include time and distance constraints for alumni, challenges in leadership regeneration, and the lack of a systematic alumni database.
