Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of grade VIII students at MTs An-Nadia Lubuk Jaya due to the lack of variety of teachers in the use of learning models. This study aims to determine the application of the discovery learning model in improving the learning outcomes of grade VIII students in fiqh subjects at MTs An-Nadia Lubuk Jaya. This research uses a type of classroom action research or called Classroom Action Research.  The subjects in the classroom action research conducted by the researcher are all grade VIII students at MTs An-Nadia Lubuk Jaya which totals 26 students. The research procedures carried out include Planning, Action, Observation and Reflection activities. The results showed that the average pre-cycle score was 63 with classical completeness of 38.4%. In the first cycle, an average score of 69 was obtained with the percentage of completeness of student learning outcomes classically only 42.3%. Meanwhile, in the second cycle, the percentage of completeness of student learning outcomes was only 80.8% with an average score of 80. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the discovery learning model can improve student learning outcomes in fiqh subjects for grade VIII students of MTs An-Nadia Lubuk Jaya.
