IMPLEMENTASI MODEL PEMBELAJARAN PROBLEM SOLVING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN BERPIKIR KRITIS SISWA PADA MATA PELAJARAN PAI KELAS XII SMK NEGERI 1 TANJUNG PURA

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low critical thinking skills of students. Learning is more teacher-centered and provides little opportunity for students to engage in critical thinking. Teachers only occasionally give questions that require students to think and seek answers independently. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation and improvement of students’ critical thinking skills in Islamic Education (PAI) subjects using the problem-solving learning model. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), adapting the model developed by Suharsimi Arikunto, conducted in two cycles at a vocational high school in Tanjung Pura. The research subjects were 35 Grade XII students. The CAR was carried out by applying the problem-solving learning model, which consists of five stages: orienting students to the problem; organizing students for learning; assisting individual or group investigations; developing and presenting works; and analyzing and evaluating the problem-solving process. The indicators of critical thinking skills measured in this study include: identifying problems; gathering necessary information; finding ways to solve problems; using clear language; applying logical reasoning; and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the percentage of critical thinking indicators in the pre-cycle was only 45.14%. In cycle I, the percentage of completeness reached 52.72%, while in cycle II, it increased to 74.73%. Thus, it can be concluded that there was a significant improvement in the critical thinking skills of Grade XII students through the implementation of the problem-solving learning model in Islamic Education (PAI) at SMK Negeri 1 Tanjung Pura.
