PELAKSANAAN PUASA SUNNAH DALAM MENINGKATKAN RELIGIUSITAS SANTRI DI PONDOK PESANTREN MODERN TAJUSSALAM BESILAM

This study aims to examine the implementation of sunnah fasting, the level of students’ religiosity, and the role of sunnah fasting in enhancing students’ religiosity at Pondok Pesantren Modern Tajussalam Besilam, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra. The background of this research is based on the importance of religious worship development as an effort to shape students’ religious character, particularly through the habituation of sunnah fasting, which is believed to train patience, self-control, and closeness to Allah SWT. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method with a field research approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, with key informants consisting of the head of the pesantren, deputy head, ustadz and ustadzah, and students of Pondok Pesantren Modern Tajussalam Besilam. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was tested using triangulation techniques and persistent observation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of sunnah fasting at Pondok Pesantren Modern Tajussalam Besilam has been carried out well as part of religious guidance, although it is not obligatory but recommended according to the students’ abilities. Students’ religiosity is formed through the habituation of obligatory worship, sunnah worship, and moral guidance in daily life, which is reflected in attitudes such as discipline, politeness, and responsibility. Sunnah fasting has been proven to play an important role in enhancing students’ religiosity by fostering awareness of worship, training patience, and positively shaping students’ morals and character through voluntary religious practices.
