Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of role-playing on students' speaking skills in Indonesian language learning for fourth graders at MIN 8 Langkat. The main problem identified was students' low speaking skills, characterized by a lack of courage, fluency, pronunciation accuracy, and vocabulary mastery in expressing opinions orally. This study used an experimental method with a posttest-only control group design. The experimental class was given treatment using role- playing, while the control class used conventional methods. The instrument used was a speaking skills test with indicators of pronunciation, intonation, fluency, diction, and attitude. The results showed a significant effect of the use of role- playing on improving students' speaking skills. This model has Role-Playing Model, Speaking Skills, Indonesian.
