Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in the Fiqh subject, particularly on the topic of buying and selling, in Grade X at MAS Jam’iyah Mahmudiyah. The teaching and learning process implemented by the teacher was still conventional in nature. The teacher tended to use lecture and memorization methods centered on the teacher (teacher-centered learning), while students acted merely as passive listeners. Such a learning model provided limited opportunities for students to think critically, interact, and independently construct meaning from the material being studied. As a result, the learning atmosphere became monotonous and less engaging, leading to a decline in students’ achievement. This study aimed to describe the implementation of the role-playing learning model and to examine its effectiveness in improving students’ learning outcomes in the Fiqh subject. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), applying the role-playing learning model conducted in two cycles at a senior high school in Tanjung Pura. The research subjects were 34 students of Grade X. The results showed that the percentage of learning mastery in the pre-cycle was only 30.3%. In Cycle I, the percentage of mastery increased to 45.5%. In Cycle II, it further increased to 87,9%. Therefore, it can be concluded that there was a significant improvement in the learning outcomes of Grade X students through the implementation of the role-playing learning model in the Fiqh subject at MAS Jam’iyah Mahmudiyah Tanjung Pura.
