PENGUATAN LIFE SKILL SANTRI DALAM SISTEMPENDIDIKAN PONDOK PESANTREN MODERN TAAJUSSALAAM BESILAM PADANG TUALANG LANGKAT

The times, the industrial revolution, and globalization demand the readiness of every individual, including santri, to face change. Modern Taajussalaam Besilam Islamic Boarding School seeks to form competent students through life skillsbased education. In addition to understanding religious knowledge, students are also equipped with life skills, both general and specific, to face the challenges of the times. The focuses that researchers take in this study are: (1) How is the education system of Modern Taajussalaam Islamic Boarding School?, (2) How are efforts to strengthen the life skills of students in the education system of Modern Taajussalaam Islamic Boarding School?, (3) What are the supporting and inhibiting factors in strengthening the life skills of students in the education system of Modern Taajussalaam Islamic Boarding School?. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods with a field research approach (Field Research) and purposively selected subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, which includes data condensation, data presentation, conclusion drawing, and verification. Data validity was tested through triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The results of this study are: 1) The education system at Pondok Pesantren Modern Taajussalaam Besilam consists of several sub-systems, namely: (a) Actors, in the Modern Taajussalaam Besilam Islamic Boarding School itself there are actors including: kyai, assistant kyai, administrators and students, (b) Hardware facilities, which are evidenced by the availability of physical infrastructure such as the kyai's house, dormitory / boarding building, mosque and other supporting buildings, (c) Software facilities consisting of curriculum, rules, learning methods, media and learning resources. 2) Efforts to improve the strengthening of students' life skills regarding selfconfidence in muhadharah activities at the Taajussalaam Modern Islamic Boarding School are carried out by reminding students who are in charge of practicing, providing support between students, and motivating themselves and others. This method is effective in increasing the enthusiasm of students in participating in pesantren activities. 3) Supporting factors for strengthening the life skills of students at Pondok Pesantren Modern Taajussalaam Besilam include: 1) Various activity programs, 2) Attention of leaders and caregivers, 3) Competent educators, 4) Supportive environment. While the inhibiting factors are: 1) Inadequate infrastructure, 2) The awareness of students is still low, 3) Lack of confidence of students, 4) Difficult time adjustment with many activities.
