Abstract

This study aims to analyze teachers’ social competence in implementing

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) with a humanistic educational perspective at MAN 2 Langkat. The research employs a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews with the principal, teachers, and students as the main data sources. The findings indicate that PAI teachers have effectively applied social competence through communicative and empathetic interactions, as well as respect for the diverse characters of students. Teachers act not only as knowledge providers but also as educators who foster dialogic and humanistic relationships. The implementation of humanistic education is reflected in non-authoritarian attitudes, openness to students’ opinions, and attention to students’ emotional conditions. Teachers’ social competence positively affects comfort, motivation, and a conducive learning environment. Challenges, such as differences in students’ characters and limited learning time, can be addressed through personal approaches and effective communication. These findings emphasize that teachers’ social competence is a key factor in achieving inclusive, humanistic, and meaningful PAI learning.
