Abstract

This research aims to determine the role of madrasas in maintaining students' religious identity, identify their supporting and inhibiting factors, and describe strategies carried out in facing the challenges of globalization. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data was obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed by data reduction techniques, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that madrassas have an important role in shaping and maintaining students' religious identities through intracurricular activities, extracurriculars, worship habits, and cooperation with parents and the community. The supporting factors include the support of competent educators, a religious madrasah environment, and the involvement of the surrounding community. The inhibiting factors include the influence of technology, lack of parental supervision at home, and the influence of outside cultures that are contrary to Islamic values. The strategies carried out by the madrasah include strengthening the religious curriculum, habituating Islamic morals in daily life, and increasing synergy with parents and community leaders. Thus, it can be concluded that madrassas play a significant role in maintaining students' religious identities in the midst of the rapid flow of globalization, although they are still faced with various challenges that need to be overcome together.
