UPAYA PENINGKATAN KUALITAS BACAAN DAN HAFALAN AL-QURAN MELALUI METODE TAHSIN DI KELAS VII SEKOLAH SMP IT SUARA DA’I MUDA LANGKAT

This research aims to improve students’ skills in Qur’an recitation and memorization through the implementation of the Tahsin method among Grade VIII students of SMP IT Suara Da’i Muda Langkat. This study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of this research were Grade VIII students who experienced difficulties in pronouncing hijaiyah letters correctly based on their makhraj, applying the rules of tajweed, and maintaining Qur’an memorization. Data were collected through observation, tests (pre-test and post-test), and documentation, while data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive and quantitative approaches. The results indicate that the implementation of the Tahsin method had a positive impact on improving students’ abilities in Qur’an recitation and memorization. In Cycle I, students’ abilities were still low with an average score of 55.25 and a classical learning completeness of only 22.85%, which had not yet met the research success criteria. After improvements were made in Cycle II, students’ performance significantly increased with an average score of 76.91 and classical learning completeness reaching 80%, indicating that the success indicators were achieved. These findings show that the Tahsin method is effective in improving the quality of Qur’an recitation, especially regarding makhraj accuracy, fluency, and correct application of tajweed rules. Furthermore, the Tahsin method strengthens memorization through structured and repetitive drills. Thus, the Tahsin method can be used as an effective and engaging instructional strategy to enhance students’ Qur’an recitation and memorization skills in Tahfiz learning.
