Abstract

It is hoped that the Self Directed Learning model can be an alternative for Religious Education teachers, especially in the field of Aqidah Moral studies, where this learning requires the role of the teacher and a learning model that does not result in student boredom in learning which can occur if the teacher only applies a conventional teaching style, namely the traditional teaching style. and has not yet led to the use of modern learning innovations such as the use of learning styles, learning methods and media in learning. After conducting observations and interviews, the researcher formulated this research using the Classroom Action Research method with the aim of describing how efforts were made to improve students' metacognitive abilities using the Self Directed Learning model. After carrying out these intervention actions, it can be concluded that the Self Directed Learning model can improve the metacognitive abilities of students in the Aqidah Morals subject, material on Praiseworthy Morals towards oneself in class X SMA Brandan Barat. This can be seen where in cycle I the class average score was 79.18% and in cycle II it increased to 83.04%. For classical completeness in cycle I, classical completeness was 77.78% in cycle II, increasing to 88.89%. Thus, the conclusion of this research is that efforts to improve students' metacognitive abilities in the field of Aqidah Akhlak studies can be carried out using the Self Directed Learning learning model.
