Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of Islamic Education teachers in building the character of Generation Z students in the post-truth era at Hinai State High School 1, as well as how teachers strategize to instill positive values amid the rapid flow of digital information. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach, where data is obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation from PAI teachers, students, and supporting school documents. The results of the study reveal several important findings. First, teachers act as mentors, role models, guides, and discussion partners for Generation Z students, utilizing interactive learning, role modeling, school culture, and digital technology so that students can develop positive character, critical thinking, and discern information wisely. Second, teachers actively instill the values of honesty, discipline, responsibility, caring, politeness, independence, creativity, and emotional intelligence through active learning activities and practical experiences at school, so that students are able to relate theory to their daily experiences and demonstrate positive behavioral changes such as discipline, politeness, careful evaluation of information, and greater creativity. Third, teachers face challenges such as students' dependence on gadgets, susceptibility to misinformation, differences in motivation, peer influence, and time constraints, but they can overcome these challenges through role modeling, safe discussion spaces, creative methods, daily habits, and cooperation with the principal, homeroom teachers, and parents. This study emphasizes the importance of the role of teachers as educators who guide students in building strong and wise character in the digital information age.
