Abstract

This research is motivated by the low speaking skills of grade III students in MIN 4 Langkat due to the lack of variety of teachers in the use of learning media. This study aims to determine the application of montage media in improving the speaking skills of grade III students in Indonesian subjects at MIN 4 Langkat. This research uses a type of classroom action research or called Classroom Action Research. The subjects in the classroom action research conducted by the researcher are all students of class III B in MIN 4 Langkat which totals 26 students. The research procedures carried out include Planning, Action, Observation and Reflection activities. The results showed that the students' speaking skills in the first cycle were obtained as a percentage for pronunciation of 54.8%, intonation of 56.7%, fluency of 59.6%, expression of 52.9% and mastery of the topic of 67.3%. Meanwhile, speaking skills in cycle II obtained a percentage for pronunciation of 74%, intonation of 72.1%, fluency of 74%, mastery of topics of 84.6%, and expression of 73.1% with good information for each indicator. This proves that the speaking skills of grade III students have improved and the completeness of students' speaking skills has been classically achieved.
