The research method used was quasi experiment with factorial design, involving 21 students as research subjects, which were divided into experimental and control classes. Data were collected through test instruments, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using the t statistical test. The results showed that (1) the application of spinning wheels in learning encouraged students to be more active through group experiment-based activities, such as magnetic force experiments, which were delivered in front of the class; (2) the average post-test score of students in the experimental class using spinning wheels reached 87.62, higher than the control class with the conventional method of 66.50; and (3) the statistical test results showed a significant effect of spinning wheel learning media on student learning outcomes with a tcount> ttable (6.654> 2.023) at a significant level of 0.05. This study aims to determine the application of the Whole Language Approach in improving the reading skills of grade IV students in the Indonesian Language subject at MIN 4 Langkat. This study uses the type of classroom action research or called Classroom Action Research. The subjects in the classroom action research conducted by the researcher were all 26 students of class IV B at MIN 4 Langkat. The research procedures carried out included Planning, Action, Observation and Reflection activities. The results of the study showed that students' reading skills in cycle I obtained a percentage for Understanding the contents of the text of 54.8%, Accuracy of the main idea 56.7%, accuracy of sentence structure 59.6%, spelling and spelling 52.9% and accuracy of selecting the contents of the message / message 67.3%. While reading skills in cycle II obtained a percentage for understanding the contents of 74%, accuracy of the main idea 72.1%%, accuracy of sentence structure 74%, spelling and spelling 84.6%, and accuracy of selecting the contents of the message / message 73.1% with good information for each indicator.
