Abstract

This research aims to investigate the implementation of the Free Learning Curriculum in Fiqh learning in class X at MAN 2 Langkat and its impact on shaping students' characters. Using a qualitative approach, this research involves interview, observation, and documentation techniques as data collection methods, and data analysis through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the implementation of the Free Learning Curriculum in class X at MAN 2 Langkat emphasizes student involvement through responsible freedom of learning, with teachers acting as facilitators. Structured learning includes introduction, core, and closing stages, using methods such as lectures, question and answer sessions, discussions, and instructional media. Formative and summative assessments reflect the principles of the Free Learning Curriculum, integrating assessments into lesson planning and implementation.The Fiqh teacher employs habituation strategies, such as prayer and Quran reading, and sets examples as positive role models. Setting task deadlines is done to instill responsibility and discipline, while reward and punishment are used as responses to student behavior. The implementation of the Free Learning Curriculum at MAN 2 Langkat significantly contributes to shaping students' characters. The integration of character values, such as civility, exemplarity, citizenship, and tolerance, creates a dynamic learning environment. Success is evident in daily practices, where students exhibit courteous interactions, excellent discussion skills, and a sense of responsibility. The Free Learning Curriculum at MAN 2 Langkat plays a crucial role in shaping students' characters and establishing a learning environment oriented toward Pancasila values, creating individuals who are not only academically successful but also impactful in social life.
