Abstract

The homeroom teacher is one of the owners of an important role in designing classroom managerial design and determines the achievement of the education program. Therefore homeroom teacher is required to be a manager, motivator, designer, administrator, and psychologist. But this role has not been running properly because there are still homeroom teachers who only carry out their role as class foremen who come to provide class foreman who comes to provide learning materials and assignments without doing real classroom management. without doing real classroom management. The meaning of classroom managerial The real meaning of classroom management is that the homeroom teacher plans and carries out various ways that can be used in classroom management to create a class that is conducive and comfortable for students in the learning process. conducive and comfortable for students in the learning process and outside the learning process. The purpose of this study was to determine the role, strategies and constraints of homeroom teachers in classroom management at Tunas Baru Private High School in Pangkalan Berandan. This research uses qualitative research through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects were 3 homeroom teachers and 3 students. The results showed that; (1) Homeroom teachers have carried out their role even though it has not been maximized. But the homeroom teacher still tries to achieve the objectives of classroom management effectively and efficiently, this can be seen from several strategies that have been carried out by homeroom teachers in classroom management including; First, decorating the classroom with student works, Second, prioritizing student activeness, Third, using several approaches to influence students in classroom management, Fourth, rolling seating arrangements, and Fifth, using learning media. (2) The role of homeroom teachers in classroom managerial has been going well and needs to be improved in order to achieve goals effectively and efficiently as desired. The homeroom teacher's role in managing the class, managing students is fully entrusted by the principal to each homeroom teacher. (3) The obstacles faced by homeroom teachers in classroom management are First, there are still students who do not obey and carry out class rules set by homeroom teachers, Second, the lack of learning facilities, and Third, the lack of cooperation between students and students, other subject teachers with homeroom teachers and students, as well as school principals with homeroom teachers and subject teachers.
