Abstract

Akidah Akhlak is an essential subject in shaping students’ character and instilling noble morals, yet many students
still lack an understanding of moral values due to monotonous and less engaging teaching methods. Therefore, this research was conducted to answer the main question: how can the application of the Islamic Storytelling Method improve students understanding of moral values in the Akidah Akhlak subject for Class VII students at MTs.S Al-Washliyah Pangkalan Susu? The aim of this study is to examine the improvement of students understanding of moral values after implementing this method. This research employed classroom action research (CAR) conducted in two cycles with a total of twenty-five (25) students, consisting of twelve (12) male and thirteen (13) female students. The findings revealed that the Islamic Storytelling Method effectively enhanced students understanding of moral values, as student learning activity increased from sixty percent (60%) in the first cycle to eighty-four percent (84%) in the second cycle, with an improvement of twenty-four percent (24%). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Islamic Storytelling Method is an effective approach to improving students understanding of moral values in the Akidah Akhlak subject, and teachers are encouraged to be more creative and precise in selecting appropriate teaching methods to make Akidah Akhlak learning more engaging and meaningful for students.
